Elgato is expanding its Eve product family of HomeKit enabled accessories by showcasing Eve Lock, Eve Window Guard, Eve Smoke und Eve Aqua at IFA Berlin 2017. Elgato released a free firmware update for Eve Thermo today, enabling it to heat even more efficiently. Available for users of Eve 2.6, the update adds three brand new features: Window Detection, Days Off Calendar, and Vacation Mode. The firmware also includes improved schedules management and other general enhancements. To install the update, open Eve. Watch out for the small red circle with a number on the Settings’ icon in the tab bar. The number indicates the number of devices with outdated firmware.
Thanks to speedy and helpful feedback from a few Eve Thermo customers we have become aware of a malfunction in a specific batch of products. We were able to track down the problem with the help of our partner, Eurotronic, analyze it and narrow it down to a small number of Eve Thermo devices. Elgato will exchange defective Eve Thermo units for new ones, quickly and un-bureaucratically, of course at no charge. We would like to express our gratitude to our customers for their rapid feedback and sincerely apologize for this manufacturing defect.
Today’s firmware upgrade for Eve Thermo marks the completion of our series of upgrades for all Eve devices. Easy to install via the Eve app, it offers significantly faster connection and switching times for Eve Thermo, in addition to general performance enhancements and bug fixes. All Eve devices with upgraded firmware are fully compatible with the Home app in Apple’s upcoming iOS 10. After the firmware upgrade, Eve Thermo’s function for frost protection is activated, no matter if “Mode” is set to “on” or “off“ in Eve for Eve Thermo.
Like other thermostats, Eve Thermo comes with a standard M30x1.5 connection for your heater’s valve. In addition, the box contains RA, RAV and RAVL adapters for Danfoss heaters. Eve Thermo can easily be connected to over 90 percent of all radiators without requiring any type of adapter.
