After upgrading the firmware of your Eve accessories you may automate your connected home with timers, and rules entailing location and value triggers. Using timers, you can activate a scene at a certain time, either once-off or repeatedly. Rules with location triggers activate a scene when you reach or leave your home or another location. Rules with value triggers activate a scene once a change in a value of an Eve accessory occurs. Moreover, rules can be refined with conditions.
In addition to Eve, you may now use the new Apple Home app in iOS 10 to control your accessories, and you can access and control your home via your iPhone’s Control Center for HomeKit. HomeKit is deeply integrated into iOS, and offers additional stability and features that benefit the Eve app and Elgato HomeKit-enabled products. To use automation with timers and rules, and to access your home remotely on the go, you now need an Apple TV 4 with tvOS 10 installed, or an iPad with iOS 10 set to Home Hub mode. Apple TV 3 does not support all the new features presented by iOS 10 and HomeKit, and it is no longer available for purchase from Apple.
With the release of iOS 10, Apple has taken the next big step in further enhancing its operating system for iPhone and iPad. Indeed, we are excited about all the numerous new features and improvements, but what truly thrills us is HomeKit. With iOS 10, HomeKit is finally an integral part of iOS, to such a degree that it is accessible via the Control Center. And of course, Eve and Eve products are made for iOS 10. In addition, Apple now offers users another way to control their connected home – with the app called Home.
Thanks to speedy and helpful feedback from a few Eve Thermo customers we have become aware of a malfunction in a specific batch of products. We were able to track down the problem with the help of our partner, Eurotronic, analyze it and narrow it down to a small number of Eve Thermo devices. Elgato will exchange defective Eve Thermo units for new ones, quickly and un-bureaucratically, of course at no charge.
